Mansfield PA

Mansfield Borough, a quaint, Victorian town lined with cozy cafes, antique shops, and farmers' markets, is nestled in the picturesque mountains of North Central Pennsylvania.

Settled in 1804, when Asa Mann laid out a town plan on land that he owned in Tioga County, this area became known as "Mann's Field" and was incorporated in 1857.

Now home to Mansfield University, also founded in 1857, Mansfield is the site of the world's first night football game played under electric lights. This historic game is celebrated by a yearly reenactment of the original game played between Wyoming Seminary and Mansfield State Normal School (now M.U.) during an autumn festival known as the Fabulous 1890's Weekend.

Mansfield is located conveniently near Pennsylvania's Grand Canyon and the Tioga-Hammond, Cowanesque, and Hills Creek Lake areas where camping, swimming, boating, and nature activities are available.

Another prime activity area is the Lambs Creek Bike and Hike Trail, a three-mile paved footpath just off Main Street. In addition, there are many fine dining establishments and excellent hotel/motel/B&B accommodations, making Mansfield a delightful place to visit. Come and "Discover the Charm!"
