The Fabulous 1890's Weekend revolves around the fact that the world's first night football game was played in Mansfield, PA exactly 113 years ago on September 28, 1892. To celebrate this great historic event, Mansfield University, the Chamber of Commerce, and the entire community join forces to create a colorful family weekend. The weekend moves into full swing with a Motorless Parade at 11 a.m. on Saturday. The weekend is packed with 19th century costumes, magnificent horses, motorless carriages, and marching bands. The NY Mutuals, A Long Island-based team, reenacts the 1890's baseball with the historically accurate plays, uniforms and equipment. The NY Mutuals will play the Mansfield University Mounties in the afternoon. Our MU Mounties have the only team in the world that can accurately re-create football of the 1890's. Come and see why it's called the "Killer Sport." Weekend also includes Fireworks, The Old West, Civil War Veterans and Unique Crafts. |
