About Mansfield

Settled in 1804, Asa Mann laid out a town plan on land he owned in Tioga County, becoming “Mann’s Field” in 1857. Mansfield is located in Tioga County, PA. Tioga County was founded in 1804 from part of Lycoming County and was named for the Tioga River. The county seat is in Wellsboro, PA. Mansfield is a Borough located inside of Richmond Township. Tioga County is one of the most Republican counties in Pennsylvania, having voted for the Republican in every Presidential election since 1964. There are 3 PA State Parks in Tioga County. Hills Creek State Park lies in Charleston Township between Mansfield and Wellsboro. Colton Point State Park and Leonard Harrison State Park are both located in the Pennsylvania Grand Canyon region in Wellsboro, PA.

Fabulous 1890's Weekend

The Fabulous 1890’s Weekend revolves around the world’s first night football game, played by Mansfield University in Smythe Park on September 28, 1892. From the first Fabulous 1890s Weekend to this year's event, the goal has been to create a historically accurate, family-oriented weekend celebrating the last and most colorful decade of the 19th century. The weekend culminates with the re-enactment football game and fireworks.

Transportation

The GMACC office offers stops in Mansfield with Susquehanna Trailways. The north bound bus headed toward Elmira departs at 10:20 AM and 2:35 PM. The south bound bus headed toward Williamsport departs at 12:45 PM and 4:40 PM. Please arrive 15 minutes prior to your departure time. The bus runs 7 days a week and holidays. Tickets may be purchased at the GMACC office between 10:00 AM and 2:00 PM weekdays only. The office can be reached via telephone at 570.662.3442. All tickets sales are CASH only. For after hours and weekend purchases – meet the driver at the bus stop at 51 B South Main St. – the GMACC office. For questions after hours and weekends please call Susquehanna Trailways at 800.692.6314.
